Apollon Smyrnis can score at OAKA
The schedule of Group 1 (South) has two matches today. The newcomers of Football League, Acharnaikos and Ermionida, are in search of their first win while AEK intends to prove to Apollon Smyrnis they are the only favorite for the first place in South. The previews and betting picks:
Analysis: Acharnaikos – Ermionida
Acharnaikos got one point in the opening match of the season against Episkopi (1-1 away). The home team was in control during the first half but Acharnaikos took an early lead at the second (50’ Tolios). Episkopi answered at 58’ (amazing shot by Doumanis) and the score did not change until the final whistle. Each team had only one important chance in the remaining time. Coach Vazakas was satisfied with the efforts of his players and he made positive comments for the goal of Doumanis, a shot that was impossible to be stopped.
Injured: Liapakis (DEF/0)
Other: Niaros (MID/0) is not ready to play yet.
Ermionida was under a lot of pressure in the home match against Chania (0-0) but they got the first point of the season. The players of Bolano were unable to cause any real problems to the defense of their opponent despite the advantage of an extra player since 36’ (red card at Gotovos). Chania were in control (even with a man down) and had more chances to get the win. If there was a winner in that match, it should be them. Bolano stated his players were stressed in their debut in Football League and that the team will improve from match to match.
Banned: Pavisević (FWD/1)
Injured: Stoimirović (FWD/0)
Betting Pick: The win of Acharnaikos @ 1.70
Acharnaikos and Ermionida might be the newcomers of Football League this season but only the home team has experience in this league. My guess is they can use it to their advantage.
Analysis: AEK – Apollon Smyrnis
AEK was treated as a huge favorite in the away match against Aiginiakos (0-1) but they had a hard time getting the three points. Aravidis scored the winning goal at 21’ but the home team added pressure looking for an equalizer that never came. Coach Dellas complained for the condition of the field and the physical play of their opponent but he should get used to it because all Football League matches are like this. There three absences reported for the next match.
Banned: Aravidis (FWD/1/1 goal)
Injured: Soleidis (DEF/0), Anakoglou (MID/1)
Apollon Smyrnis had a hard time overcoming the defenders of Fostiras but the late goal of Kotsonis (87’) gave them a stressful win. We should keep in mind that the officials of Fostiras were right to complain that Kotsonis pushed their defender when he scored. The referee did not see the foul and practically gave the win to Apollon. Coach Kostenoglou was satisfied by the efforts and the passion his players showed in the field. There is one important absence reported for the difficult match against AEK.
Injured: Farinola (FWD/1)
Betting Pick: Over 2.5 goals @ 1.70
AEK is treated like a very strong favorite again and this will not change until the end of the season. The bookies seem to forget that Apollon Smyrnis is the second strongest team of Group 1 (after AEK of course) in terms of market value. The home team is expected to add a lot of pressure for an emphatic win today which means the players of Apollon Smyrnis will find room for counter attacks, something that did not happen last week against Fostiras. This is why I believe the option for Both teams to score @ 2.65 is a huge value bet.
