PAOK looking for a new win against Iraklis
Iraklis fought hard in the first match at Kaftatzoglio Stadium but they were defeated with a goal of Athanassiadis at 59’. PAOK will now have to commit suicide to be left out of the next round but this does not mean the players of Iraklis will not try for a miracle. After all this is still a rivalry battle for the city of Thessaloniki and in matches like this everything can happen.
In the last away match of PAOK, Panionios scored an early goal at 6’, making things difficult for the players of Mr. Stevens. PAOK added pressure for the equalizer but the overall impression was that the players were not concentrated enough to turn the match around. When Panionios scored a second goal at 61’, it was obvious that PAOK would need a miracle just to look for a draw. Things could have been different if Athanassiadis had not sent the ball at the bar at 12’ but there are no excuses for them when they fail to score after 17 attempts on goal. Jacobo (GK/11), Spyropoulos (DEF/5), López (DEF/3), Tziolis (MID/18/1 goal), Lazăr (MID/17/1 goal), Pozoglou (MID/2) and Salpiggidis (FWD/19/3 goals) were left out for the Cup match. Furthermore Katsouranis (MID/17/2 goals) is not expected to be in the starting lineup because he was ill.
The home win against a weak away opponent like Pierikos was expected anyway, but the players of Iraklis decided to do it emphatically (6-0). The main goal of the club is their return to Super League and they prove it with their 7 wins in their last 8 matches (7W-1D-0L). Mr. Guillermo Hoyos stated his team is going to the re-match to give their best against PAOK. The only reported absence so far is Konteon (DEF/8/1 goal) who is injured.
Betting pick: The draw at halftime @ 4.10
PAOK has been out of form lately but their last away defeat in Super League from Panionios (2-0) has motivated the players who want to get back to wins ASAP. Iraklis is weaker when playing away and the fact they did not get a positive result in the first match, makes their plans to qualify extremely difficult. The only way they can hope is if they will keep a clean sheet until halftime and try to take the match in overtime in case PAOK repeats a new poor performance. I really doubt this can happen in this rivalry battle and this is why I will also include the HT/FT option Draw/PAOK @ 4.30 in bets for today.
