Kalloni is extremely confident at home
Day 9 will be completed today with the home match of Kalloni against Levadiakos. The home team is doing great at Mytilene and their overall performances until now show they will stay away from the relegation zone. On the contrary, Levadiakos has already joined the group or “weak” clubs and their away performances over the last two seasons (0W-1D-19L) are not promising a positive result. The preview and betting pick:
Analysis: Kalloni – Levadiakos
Kalloni wasted a great chance for win in the last match against PAS Giannina (0-0). They had the advantage of an extra player since 51’ (Lila was sent off – second yellow) but their efforts to score were unsuccessful. In the midweek match for the Cup, they were defeated by Asteras Tripolis (2-1) for the second time this season. The home team added a lot of pressure missing at least three good chances to take the lead but Kalloni was the one to score first with a penalty kick by Agritis (40’). Asteras dominated the match in the second half and Kalloni lost two good chances to score a second goal (counter attacks at 52 and 68). The equalizer came at 69’ and eight minutes later (77’) the home team turned the match around. Matzourakis was pleased with the efforts of his team in the last two matches and now they return at home where they have only wins (4W-0D-0L) without conceding a goal in any of them.
Injured: Vlastelis (MID/0), Camara (FWD/2/1 goal)
Levadiakos got the first win of the season in the last home match against Panionios (1-0). They were very stressed in their game and Panionios made things worse but losing important chances to take the lead while the score was still at 0-0. A late goal by Ghiakoumakis at 89’ gave them a win they do not deserve. In the midweek match for the Cup, Pantelidis and his players took advantage of the many absences of their opponent and with two goals during the first half (19’, 28’) they increased their chances to move on to the next stage. The two consecutive wins have improved the morale of the team and allowed Pantelidis to feel a bit more comfortable as there have been rumors about his replacement.
Doubtful: Georgiadis (MID/6), Vukčević (MID/7/1 goal/2 assists) and Mantzios (FWD/5) were included in the roster but it is not known if they will be in the lineup. They have all recovered recently from minor injuries.
Betting Pick: Kalloni to win @ 1.75
The odds barely worth the risk but I cannot underestimate how strong Kalloni has been at home until now (4W-0D-0L, goals 6-0). Their stats are not a coincidence since they had a total of 50 attempts to score in those matches (average 12.5/match). In the match against Panathinaikos they had only 5 which means their real home average against equal or weaker teams is 15 attempts per match. My guess is the weak defense of Levadiakos (0W-0D-3L away, goals 2-6) cannot stand this kind of pressure.
Another interesting fact in they were leading the score in halftime in three out of the four cases (Ergotelis, Panathinaikos and Panthrakikos) with AOK Kerkyra being the only teams to survive for the first 45 minutes.
