The interesting history of Atromitos
The return of Berg brought back the confidence to the players of Panathinaikos. The next match against Atromitos will not be easy as the club from Peristeri has got a positive result the last four times they faced the Greens away. The mentallity of the two teams promises us we are about to watch a good match. The preview and betting pick:
Analysis: Panathinaikos – Atromitos
*Panathinaikos has a midweek home match against PSV for the Europa League on Thursday.
*This season: Panathinaikos – Atromitos 2-1 (friendly)
Panathinaikos was defeated in the away battle against Olympiakos (1-0) but they complained a lot for the referee and his decisions which were “pushing” the home team to the win. It was a very boring match where the goal of Avlonitis with a header (from a foul kick that was wrongfully awarded to Olympiakos) made all the difference. The Greens added pressure for the equalizer but we should point out Olympiakos lost a penalty kick with Mitroglou to lock the win. Panathinaikos returned to wins in the midweek match for the Cup against Panetolikos (3-1 at home) where the return of key player Berg was combined with a fantastic third goal. There are two absences reported. Coach Anastassiou is banned for his statements following the defeat from Olympiakos.
Injured: Schildenfeld (DEF/7)
Doubtful: Ntinas (FWD/5/1 goal)
Atromitos is maybe the only team that was so influenced from the long break Super League had on the first two weeks of October. Sa Pinto and his players had a superb start on 27/09 with the home win against Olympiakos (1-0) but they have not got a positive result since then. They were defeated from PAOK at Toumba (2-1 on Day 7) and they failed to win Ergotelis (1-1 at home on Day 8) and Panthrakikos (1-1 for the Cup). Defense is no longer their best line while they still have difficulties in scoring more than once. Sa Pinto is confident the team will adopt to his changes soon. There are two absences reported.
Injured: Kouros (DEF/2), Brito (MID/2)
Betting Pick: Both to score @ 2.10
I believe Panathinaikos will be a lot more confident today like they were in their last Cup match. Atromitos is in a transition period but they are still a very dangerous opponent. The Greens can score at home against any opponent but they are not reliable in defense. This option looks excellent for this match.
