Debut for Vaggelis Vlachos
Day 19 of Super League will be completed today with the battle of Ergotelis against Kalloni. The home team is desperate for a win that will keep them alive in relegation fight. Their midweek match against Panionios at Pagritio was postponed and they still hope they will get the two wins needed to keep up with the rest of the relegation candidates. At the same time Kalloni looks safe, seven points away from the danger zone and the recent change at their bench is expected to end their negative streak (0W-5D-4L) very soon. The preview and betting picks:
Analysis: Ergotelis – Kalloni
Ergotelis got an unexpected day off as their midweek home match against Panionios was postponed because of strong winds that ripped the canopy of Gate 2 at Pagritio. Their last official match was last weekend when they suffered a humiliating away defeat at Apostolos Nikolaidis. Ergotelis lost the first important chance of the game at 4’ (bar) but the next minutes were a nightmare for their defense. Panathinaikos scored 5 goals (8’, 12’, 15’ 23’ and 42’) giving a quick end before halftime. Coach Tsaousanis continues although he was considered a temporary solution at first. The club’s officials have been quite busy with the winter transfers (4 players added, 6 left) in their efforts to strengthen the roster. There are three absences reported.
Injured: Jovanović (DEF/12/1 goal), Tzanakakis (MID/15/1 assist), Bourselis (MID/3)
Kalloni lost the midweek home game against PAOK (1-2) and expanded their negative streak to 9 matches (0W-5D-4L). They scored first at 7’ and got the advantage of an extra player at 37’ but even like this they disappointed me for including them on the Bomb of the Day section. PAOK entered the field determined in the second half, they scored twice (50’ and 58, Pereyra) and the worst of all is that Kalloni also missed a penalty kick at 82’ (save by Itandje) to stop me from getting paid my handicap (+0.5) bet. The officials of the club decided a change at the bench was needed and Matzourakis was replaced by Vaggelis Vlachos who last worked for AEK in season 2012-13. There are two absences reported and his goal will be a winning debut as the next two matches (Panathinaikos away, Asteras Tripolis at home) will not be easy at all.
Banned: Pipinis (DEF/14)
Injured: Valios (DEF/16/1 goal/1 assist)
Betting Pick: Both to score @ 2.25
Ergotelis is desperate and they are forced to fight this match until its last second no matter what happens. The only problem is they will be facing a team that is better than them in every aspect. Do not be fooled by the negative streak of Kalloni. For the same reasons, the win of Kalloni @ 3.40 a value bet followed by a score of Over 2.5 goals @ 2.70.
