Aris has a mountain to climb
The six Wednesday matches are completed and Panathinaikos is the big winner in Day 16. The Greens showed up determined and got an emphatic win over Levadiakos (0-4) despite their absences in offense. Their win becomes more important after the draw of Atromitos (1-1) as they quickly reduced their point difference from the team from Peristeri. They will now hope that Asteras Tripolis will not make it at Charilaou today to start feeling safer in their Playoff placement.
Theoretically this scenario is unlikely to happen because Aris seems unable to respond to the needs of Super League. The players have not been paid for a long time, the last news want Udogi and Ibeh to be abroad looking for their next team while the club got a new fine yesterday (100.000€) from E.E.A. (Professional Sports Committee) for not presenting their letter of guarantee for Season 2013-14. The same fine was announced for Ergotelis, OFI, Panionios and Panathinaikos.
To the previews and betting picks for the remaining matches of Day 16:
PANIONIOS vs. VERIA
Panionios resisted in the last away match against Asteras Tripolis but a penalty kick at 60’ made the difference for the home side. Surprisingly they have not scored in their last four matches turning from a team of 14 goals in offense after 11 matches (1.27 av.) to a team of 14 goals in 15 matches (0.93 av.).
Veria managed to get a stressful home win last Sunday against Panetolikos (1-0) but they are still in relegation placement despite the three points they got from it. The defeat of Platanias (who is two points away) yesterday gives an extra motive for the win to the players of Mr. Dostanić but they are weak when playing away (0W-3D-4L, goals 3-14).
Betting Pick: Panionios to win @ 2.20
I refuse to believe Panionios will lose points today. They are stronger than their opponent in offense and they behave better in defense lately. Four matches of not scoring are way too much for them. Considering the need of Veria for points I believe we will watch an open match with a result of Over 2.5 goals @ 2.35.
ARIS vs. ASTERAS TRIPOLIS
Things are very bad for Aris this season. I am almost convinced they will be relegated following the example of AEK that chose Football League 2 to erase the debts of the past. In their last match they lost from Olympiakos at home (0-2) with the Champions scoring two goals early (6’, 27’) and then spending the rest of the match in training mode. According to the latest news this will be the last match of Mr. Milinković at the bench of the team which is another sign of how bad things are going for the home side.
Asteras Tripolis got the win the last home match against Panionios (1-0). They were in control of the match but their opponent was resisting and they needed the help of a penalty kick (60’) to get what they wanted. One of the match highlights was the unbelievable shot of N’Daw from wide range which shook the horizontal bar of Anestis at 38’.
Betting Pick: The win of Asteras Tripolis @ 2.05
Last season Asteras Tripolis lost by 5-1 in Charilaou giving Aris one of the most important wins that kept them in Super League. Things were much different back then. They were safe in the Playoffs as they were waiting for the regular season to end. Furthermore, their coach was Mr. Tsiolis, who is well known for his love for Aris. This season Asteras is a bit problematic, they need the points and Aris will not make it even if Asteras will donate both matches, home and away, to them. Mr. Verghetis wants wins to keep his team in the Playoffs and I doubt neither he nor his players are in the mood for presents. It is about time for Asteras to start improving their average away results (1W-3D-3L, goals 5-9). I expect to see an easy win so the win of Asteras (-1.5) @ 4.00 is a value bet.
I intend to place two bets today:
The first are a combination of the wins for Panionios and Asteras Tripolis @ 4.51 and the second in a single bet at the win of Asteras Tripolis (-1) @ 4.00.
Good luck in your bets.
