Panathinaikos looking to get back to wins

I had to leave the first match out for today as I was extremely busy working on the backend of The remaining two matches are very interesting as Levadiakos and Ergotelis are desperate for a win in their efforts to stay away from relegation while Panathinaikos cannot afford a new negative result after the away defeat from Panetolikos.

To the previews and betting picks for the Saturday matches of Day 19:

The four consecutive defeats have added a lot of pressure to the coach of Levadiakos, Mr. Karageorgiou. Their new away defeat, this time against Panthrakikos, was fair. In fact the home team could have scored more goals if we consider their total attempts on goal (13 vs. 4 of Levadiakos) while they also had two attempts stopped by the goalposts. Matches like the one against Ergotelis who is only three points away from relegation placement are considered very important and the goal cannot be anything else than the win. There are no important problems or absences reported.

Ergotelis has been away from wins for seven matches (0W-3D-4L) and rumors want coach Petrakis to be on a tight spot. They come from a home defeat from Atromitos (0-1) in a match where they had more attempts on goal (11 vs. 7). The goal by Karamanos during the first half (17’) was proven enough to give their opponent the win and the three points and this was the fifth time in the last seven matches Ergotelis failed to score. Mr. Petrakis will only have to deal with the poor morale of his team as he will have a full roster for this match.

Betting Pick: Both teams to score @ 1.95

Both teams need the win in this match and I expect to see them looking for it at all cost. Their defenses are not doing well lately making this pick the most rational approach. Levadiakos is much stronger at home (5W-1D-2L, goals 10-11) and I must remind you they had five consecutive wins before their defeat from Panathinaikos (0-4). Do not underestimate Ergotelis as they are the only team with three away defeats (1W-5D-3L, goals 5-10) in places 6-18 in the standings. Considering all the above the win of Ergotelis @ 3.60 is a value bet although I would feel safer with the option of Over 2.5 goals @ 2.30.

Panathinaikos was defeated in the last away match against Panetolikos (1-0) but the team is still safe in a Playoff placement. The Greens had problems in defense once again only this time they failed to score and claim anything from this match. Panetolikos was more determined for the win and more dangerous (attempts on goal 11 vs. 5) and their win was fair if we consider that Panathinaikos had 0 shots on goal inside the box. Coach Anastassiou was troubled with the performance of his players and he will now look to get the team back to wins. Lagos (DEF/14/2 goals) and Schildenfeld (DEF/13) are injured while Triantafyllopoulos (DEF/16) and Zeca (MID/16) are banned for this match.

Panionios comes from the away draw against OFI (0-0) where they failed to score for the sixth time in their last seven matches. This match was characterized as the worst of Day 18 as both teams had a total of 9 attempts on goal in it (6 vs. 3). Needless to say I am already having difficulties remembering anything worth of mentioning from it. Mr. Panagopoulos will have to deal with the absences of three first lineup players as Giannakopoulos (GK/13) is still injured while Avlonitis (DEF/17) and Mitropoulos (MID/17) are banned.

Betting Pick: Both teams to score @ 3.00

Considering the absences of both sides and the fact Panionios scored three times against the Greens in the match of the first round, I have concluded this is a very promising bet. Panathinaikos will be after the first win in 2014 but I must remind you that Mr. Panagopoulos is the only coach that has got a point against Panathinaikos (0-0 last season) in the last 13 away matches of Panionios against the Greens (0W-1D-12L). I know it looks like a very long shot but the win of Panionios @ 13.00 or just the possibility of not losing this match (Panionios +0.5 @ 4.10) is a huge offer if we consider what happened in the first round where the team from Nea Smyrni prevailed.
