The domestic battle of Crete
The twentieth day will be completed today with the domestic battle of Platanias against OFI. Both teams are located in Crete and along with Ergotelis they are the three representatives of this island in Super League. So far we have not had any signs of rivalry between any of those clubs but this does not mean they do not want to claim the unofficial title of the “best team in Crete”. The officials of Platanias allowed the presence of 300 fans from OFI’s side today and according to what we have seen so far from both of them, this is going to be a very interesting match.
The preview and betting pick:
PLATANIAS vs. OFI
Note: Mr. Anastopoulos was the coach of OFI from September 2010 until December 2012 when he suddenly left the team to sign with Atromitos.
Platanias was defeated a lot easier than anyone anticipated in the last away match against Asteras Tripolis (3-0). They received two goals during the first half (19’, 45’) and the third goal of Asteras at 50’ practically ended any hopes for Platanias to get back in the match. Coach Anastopoulos stated this bad performance will not influence and that he expects them to be better in the next match. There are no absences reported for this match.
OFI had an average performance in the last home match against Veria and they paid it with their first home defeat (0-1). The players of Mr. Sa Pinto were not concentrated and they wasted the chances they had for the win. The two red cards they received at 75’ (Bourbos) and 81’ (Zoro) allowed their opponent to score at 85’ and steal the win. Both players served their penalty in the away Cup rematch against Kalloni where OFI managed to qualify to the next round after their second goal in overtime (FT: 0-1, ET: 0-2). Koutsianikoulis (MID/15/2 goals) is banned while Daskalakis () and Fraggoulakis are injured for the next match.
Betting Pick: Platanias to win @ 2.30
Both teams have are interested on the win as they want to stay away from relegation placement. OFI looks a bit safer in the standings which makes this match more important for the home side. Platanias has only lost from Olympiakos (1-4) at home this season (3W-5D-1L, goals 13-10) and I cannot see how OFI can claim a win being so weak when they play away (1W-2D-6L, goals 5-16). Mr. Anastopoulos is well aware of the opponent’s roster and I doubt he will leave this deep knowledge unused.
