Αris is forced to look for points everywhere
The midweek action will be completed today with the last match with Panetolikos, one of the strongest home teams (7W-3D-0L, goals 17-2), going after one more win over the desperate for points players of Aris. If you think this match is simple you should keep in mind that the players of Aris have got both of their wins this season when playing away (2W-1D-8L, goals 13-24) while some of their recent away performances (against Ergotelis 3-3, Giannina 2-1, Panthrakikos 4-3) had quite dramatic finishes regardless of the result.
The preview and betting pick:
PANETOLIKOS vs. ARIS
Panetolikos comes from a very good away performance against Olympiakos (2-1) where they surprised the home team with and early goal by Camara (5’). The Champions leveled the match at 26’ with Olaitan and added more pressure for the win. The players of Mr. Chavos were very concentrated in their defensive duties while being very dangerous in their counter attacks. In one of their few mistakes at 70’ Bakakis touched the ball with his hand after a corner kick from Ibagaza. The referee awarded a penalty kick and Campbell scored to give the Champions their eleventh consecutive win this season. Coach Chavos was very pleased with the new great away performance by his players. In fact Panetolikos had very good performances against all the strong teams so far.
Injured: Budimir (FWD/3)
Banned: Godoy (MID/20)
Next match for Panetolikos: Giannina (Away)
Aris has been away from wins for 14 matches (5D-9L) and their goal to avoid relegation has become extremely difficult. In their last home match against Xanthi (1-1), they were stressed once again, they received a goal first at 52’ (Mantalos) but they added pressure and got back at 68’ when their new transfer, Bakassetas, scored his third goal in two matches. Xanthi managed to hold the pressure in the remaining time giving them the point of the draw. Theoretically there is still time, especially after the change of the rules for the relegation places.
Injured: Vlachos (MID/2), Aganzo (FWD/13/2 goals/1 assist)
Banned: Iraklis (DEF/16), Tatos (FWD/21/2 goals/6 assists)
Next match for Aris: Panionios (Home)
Betting Pick: Both teams to score @ 2.30
There is no doubt in my mind that Panetolikos is a better team in every aspect of their game. The only thing that bothers me is that they had a tough schedule and their most recent match against Olympiakos was the most difficult of all. Aris will need at least two goals to hope on a positive result today and I doubt they will manage to keep a clean sheet.
The absence of Tatos is important but I cannot say the same for Aganzo as he has lost too many important chances this season. I am under the impression that Aris will have an extra player in offense today that he is injured offering some extra help to Bakassetas who is on fire. The overall performances of the two clubs combined with the stats of the referee, Mr. Ghiahos, make the bets on Over 2.5 goals @ 2.20 and Over 3.5 goals @ 4.00 look very interesting. After all, Panetolikos is capable of scoring all goals needed on their own.
