Panetolikos has stayed away from PR so far

The relegation battle has forced Apollon Smyrnis, Veria and Platanias to look for points everywhere. Rumors want Apollon to be already out of this battle as the other two “mysteriously” play against opponents that show less motivation for a win. The way things are at this moment, I believe we will have to wait some more to watch who will be out of relegation and who will get the knockout place.

Like I told you last time, there is no reason to over-analyze because motive for points (and survival) is way more important than anything else at this moment. The previews and betting picks:

PANETOLIKOS vs. VERIA

Panetolikos is not really in form lately (1W-1D-4L) but they are very strong at home (9W-4D-2L, goals 21-7). Their two recent defeats from Atromitos (1-3) and Asteras Tripolis (0-1) mean nothing to me as in both matches they could have won and they should blame their luck they did not. Veria might be desperate for points but their overall away performances (3W-5D-8L, goals 10-24) are not enough to get a win at Agrinio.

Next matches for Panetolikos: Platanias (away), OFI (home)

Next matches for Veria: Panionios (home), Asteras Tripolis (home)

Betting Pick: Panetolikos to win @ 1.80

As far as I have watched, Panetolikos has not been donating points. Yes, they are out of motive but they are very good when playing in front of their crowd. Veria will focus on defense to survive but the best thing they can get in this match is maybe a point, IF they are lucky enough.

PANIONIOS vs. ASTERAS TRIPOLIS

The last home draw against Panetolikos has complicated the schedule of Panionios. The clubs beneath them (in relegation) keep pushing and it seems that 35 points will not be enough if they are not careful in the remaining three matches. The good news is they will face both Veria and Platanias at Nea Smyrni so they still have the advantage even if they lose today. Asteras Tripolis was the third team to defeat Olympiakos this season in their last home match (2-1). They took advantage of the changes in their opponent’s lineup and it was obvious they wanted the win more. They need the win to get closer to Panathinaikos and Atromitos especially since this weekend those two face each other at Peristeri,

Next matches for Panionios: Veria (away), Platanias (home)

Next matches for Asteras Tripolis: Aris (home), Veria (away)

Betting Pick: The win of Asteras Tripolis (+0.5) @ 1.70

I don’t have faith on Asteras Tripolis this season but they have a lot of great players in offense. Furthermore they constantly have luck on their side. Panionios is strong at home (7W-5D-3L, goals 21-13) but their coach, Mr. Anastopoulos, is very fond of defense when facing stronger opponents. I am afraid that he is going to do the same today and his team does not have the quality to stop the dangerous players of the opponent. Another interesting option is a bet on both teams to score @ 2.00 having in mind a score like 1-1 or 1-2.

ATROMITOS vs. PANATHINAIKOS

If we are lucky enough, this match can turn out to be the best we have watched so far in Super League. Both teams deserve their place in the standings and they will be motivated for the win. Atromitos comes from and away defeat against OFI (2-0) where they had a lot of absences. Most of the players are back and the home team will try to expand their undefeated streak (12W-4D-0L, goals 33-6). Panathinaikos used a secondary lineup against Kalloni but this did not stop them from winning by 3-0 even without their top scorer, Berg who was banned. The home defeat at the match of the first round (1-2) is expected to motivate the players of Mr. Anastassiou who happen to be the second best away team in Super League (8W-3D-4L, goals 25-11) and the only ones who have won Olympiakos at Karaiskakis (0-3).

Next matches for Atromitos: PAOK (away), Panthrakikos (away)

Next matches for Panathinaikos: Levadiakos (home), Xanthi (away)

Betting Pick: Both teams to score @ 2.00

Panathinaikos keeps improving and the proof is they are running a winning streak of five matches for the first time this season. The youngsters of Mr. Anastassiou were expected to have a similar negative season that AEK had last year, but they decided to prove everyone wrong. And not only that; they seem to have a lot of room for improvement. Their away win against the hated rivals of Olympiakos has boosted their confidence and if they repeat that performance they can cause a lot of problems to Atromitos. At least, more than the ones they caused in the match of the first round. A next good option is a result of Over 2.5 goals @ 2.40 which will allow us to watch the match without worrying about the winner.
